To celebrate a friend birthday we went to Burnt Orange for lunch. It's actually the first time she is aware I've gotten into this toy photography hobby but then again with how detail and cute these guys are how can you not love them. Armed with my Sony camera A7ii I took some shots of Dazai showing off our lunch. Isn't he just adorable??
Happiness for me is food with friends. The best kind of company ever. I hope to take more of these moments and share them with you all.
A little while back a friend of mine invited me to Sherlock Holmes Exhibition at the Power House Museum. I know how much she loves Tobio Kageyama so I decided to make Tobio cosplay as Sherlock for this outing. I think it turned out quite well. He looked very Sherlock Holme-ish.
It was an interactive exhibition where we got to play detectives and solve the case. I highly recommend this for anyone that lives in Sydney and have a free day to go visit the Power House Museum for some fun.
Can't forget Hinata as Watson. Seriously doesn't he just look adorable! When I think of who should be Sherlock and who should be Watson between Hinata and Tobio, somehow it just seems fitting that Tobio is Sherlock and Hinata is Watson - don't you agree?
The exhibition goes onto till the 8th of October 2017. So make your way there and I hope you get to live out your inner detective dreams.
Of course to end the day of using those brain power we went for dessert at The Dessert Kitchen in Chinatown. Bear marshmallow in my Chinese milk tea.
This was supposed to be an omiyage (souvenir) but with my schedule being so busy these days and starting a new role I haven't had much of a chance to see some of my friends to give these out. Since it's a perishable good then it has to be eaten soon or it'll just be a waste. So, I turned it into a little photoshoot with some of my favourite boys - Kageyama and Hinata!
I love their happy faceplates. So cute with those wide smile! Look at the Fukusaya cube, it's as tall as them. It's such a cute packaging to hold the castella cake. I went down south in Japan so we definitely went to Nagasaki and visited the Atomic Bomb Museum... for anyone who can get quite emotional, I would suggest you be prepare when you go because those feelings do really hit you. It really is amazing how far they have come from since that incident and yes the people in Nagasaki are such beautiful people with their hospitality. One of the most famous goods of Nagasaki, are their Castella cake. We went during the cherryblossom season so these limited cute packaging have the cherryblossom motif all over them.
There were a few favours to choose from but I went with original. Have to try the original that is oh so famous. It is really yummy!! Perfect to go with tea or even coffee.
I really should be finishing up with my holiday trip but.. much photos to go through and trying to remember the locations and the stuff I did on the trip.. head hurts just thinking about it. Instead I decided to blog about the little small road trip up to Mount Wilson I did with a few friends on ANZAC Day. I had just come back from my trip to Japan in less than a week and my friend asked if I had plans for the public holiday, which of course I did not.
I, of course took some a few nendoroids with me for this trip to see those gorgeous autumn leaves. Heads up, if you ever plan to go to Mount Wilson which is up in the Blue Mountains, please bring cash.. two of us did not bring cash and that was not a good idea because some of the entries to the gardens required an entry fee and we were just lucky one of our friends had cash on her.
At this point of time my camera has not been fixed yet.. probably still sitting somewhere in Sony's repair centre.. anyway so most of the shots were done on my phone which didn't turn out too bad. Would of loved to be able to take some of these shots from my camera but really I can't complain.. well actually I really should of bought my portable charger because my phone did died before on this trip.. My cutie Tomoyo from Cardcaptor Sakura admiring some beautiful flowers that looked a lot like butterflies.
Don't you just love how Mikazuki Munechika holding his tea fits perfectly with those autumn trees? Or how Tomoyo and that purple plant matches so well.
A short hike later we found a small waterfall that just gives off a refreshing feel - so very Suga like!
Tomoyo has the cutest face plate and those sparkling eyes makes everything around her look amazing! Hopefully I'll get some more photo series done and uploaded soon!
I should be posting about my Japan road trip but I had so much fun yesterday that I just had to insert this post while I still remember how much fun I had. Yesterday I got invited to do a toy photography session with autumn theme with a really good friend who does some amazing Pop Vinyl photography - @popfunko_adventures on instagram or you can check our her blog which is a mixture of Pop Vinyl, Music and Adventures!
Actually the first thing we did was go and have the "Return of the Chedi" burger. It is part of the Star Wars celebration. A burger that looks like it belongs to the galaxy with its vibrant colours. It has beef patty, smoked cheese kranky (that's the sausage looking pieces in the burger), pickles, ketchup and cheeses.. and I swear there is some chilli paste in there somewhere because there was definitely a bit of spice. As we were planning to go to Centennial Park so we decided to get our burgers to go from BL Burgers on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst for our little picnic.
Gorgeous day, although a little bit of traffic but we managed to get some really nice shots, despite the fact that there wasn't enough autumn leaves yet.
We've got Sugawara playing ball in the autumn sun. Then we have Ichigo Hitohuri whose trying to stop a sword battle. The Wonder Woman Pop Vinyl belongs to @popfunko_adventures =)
Our toys met and played together (ᗒᗨᗕ) here's our little gathering.
We landed in Hakata airport, Fukuoka, Japan on the 24th of March in the morning. First thing we did? Got ourselves a hired car to start our road trip of course! Then it's off to go and enjoy some yummy fresh cooked oysters! Apparently we arrived during the oyster season so my friend had pretty much made it a must to go and have these yummy oysters! Well if you're going to be enjoying these fresh seafood then we must also have ourselves some beer. Since it is also cherryblossom season, a lot of the packaging is cherryblossom printed including this little Asahi beer can. If you are down south in Fukuoka and are interested in cooking your own fresh oysters and other variety of seafood then take a look at the links below for the little hut we went to.
This was a surprise discovery. Originally after brunching on oyster we were to keep driving south to our first place of stay and well I had wanted to go to Tanada Rice Terrace but the weather was dearily and so the photos turned out not as nice as the ones you see floating around the web. Still when we got there and saw this little monument, I just had to take a picture. There is actually a few of these Yumi Katsura Lover's Sanctuary placed all around Japan and we found ours in the south. These were placed in order to bring about awareness of the declining birthrate. If you can read Japanese or have google translate please go check out their website on the link at the bottom of this post and maybe next time you're in Japan you can take a look and see where your closest Yumi Katsura Love Sanctuary monument is.
For our first night we stayed in a little onsen village in Saga. Our ryokan of choice was Ryokan Oomuraya. We had a Japanese traditional meal which is also known as Kaiseki, using the most in season ingredients to create a course meal for the guest to enjoy. The onsens were amazing and perfect to start our road trip adventures, and their private onsen were great too!
Well that was day one of our road trip adventures in Fukuoka, Japan.
To celebrate a milestone in my life (turning a particular age), I had decided to go to Japan for a little more than 3 weeks as a birthday present to myself. Now the reason to start this blog was mainly because of the purchase of Shiro, which was for me to take with me on my holiday and take snapshots of. To the motherland we go.
This wasn't something that I had told my friends about so none of them are aware of this. Mainly only my best friend and brother knew about this decision to start this little journey of mine. A new hobby collection and in a way a new commitment.. My brother actually asked me why I didn't wait till I am in Japan to buy a Nendoroid and start taking pictures? My answer to him was that I wanted to start taking pictures from the very moment I start this trip.
The essentials for the holiday.
Passport
International License
Boarding Pass
Nendoroids
Now my travel plans was arranged by a friend whom will be traveling with me. I'm pretty lax so I wasn't too fuss how we go about this trip as long as I have time to go hunt down some more Nendoroids. So, letting my friend arrange our itinerary we ended up getting off at Singapore first for a night. The purpose - to eat! I had been to Singapore previously so I wasn't fuss what we see but it just so happened that we landed during their light festival - I Light Marina Bay. So after a massive meal of crab we then headed of to Marina Bay for some light exercise to see the light show.
We were lucky to witness a light symphony while visiting the Supertree Grove in Singapore, I had been before and enjoyed how it lights up at night but this time with the added symphony, it made it a much more enjoyable experience.
Stayed a night in Singapore, the next day we went to a few places to eat and I opted to go to a Harry Potter theme cafe in Singapore called Platform 1094. (1094 Serangoon Rd, Singapore 328192). The weather was a little humid and so there wasn't much appetite to try their food, instead I ordered a lychee cafe and Mrs Lich's Butterscotch Ale (non-alcoholic). It was a really good way to chill and relax before running off to the airport to get our flight to Fukuoka, Japan.
Can't wait to post more pictures from my holiday and also the Nendoroids that have joined our little growing family.
I am back! Back from my 3 and a bit weeks of travel in Kyushu, Japan.
I actually just landed this morning around 6am and so I'm a little bugged out, didn't actually have the time or effort to go out and buy some Easter eggs to shoot so I used the chocolate I bought from Japan instead. Sorry in advance.
In the next coming posts, it'll be our trip around Kyushu, Japan. Also, if you take a look at my Nendoroid Count, you can see that I did a bit of stocking up while in Japan.. (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و really looking forward to shooting them and start posting more pics up. If you can't wait, you can take a glimpse at some of the shots on my Instagram account. I tried to updated my Instagram at least once a day so it's a small glimpse of what I've been up to.
Anyway, the first thing I did when I got back? Slept. Yup, I took a mini nap before unpacking my suitcase and reassembling the Nendoroids I bought. In order not to damage the boxes, I had to open them all and flatten them.. so it was a bit of reconstructing as soon as I got home. Then it was a quick shoot for Easter.
I arrived back in Sydney on Easter Monday, so technically I still made it.. barely on time to post a Easter shot. Here to celebrate with everyone on such a festive day is Hatsune Miku in her cheerful version. (*^▽^*)
For those who do not know Shiro means 'white' in Japanese. In Japan and some other cultures March the 14th is White Day. On Valentines Day, February the 14th is the Day that girls gives their love interest chocolate to express their interest. You can see the crazy locker overhaul of pretty wrapped chocolates in a lot of anime and manga. White Day is the male counter of Valentines Day, where the male will return the favour with either a present. This can be anything, but it is generally, cookies, white chocolate, marshmallows and more.
So really I'm just playing on Shiro's name to celebrate today!
Giving all my love to Shiro (*´ω`*) Here are some love shaped marshmallows!
We don't actually celebrate White Day in Australia, and even among the asian community, no one actually really celebrates White Day. Of course, I only learnt about White Day through the anime I've watched and found it fascinated how it works both way.
White Chocolate!
To be honest, I'm not actually a huge fan of white chocolate... I find it too sweet for my taste. I'm more of a dark chocolate type of person, so yes I did struggle to buy these, the only plus side to this is that it's strawberry flavour.
While I go off to spend my White Day alone with Shiro and Konnosuke. I hope you are having a very 'LOVE' filled White Day (-‿◦)
